Introduction
Maintenance without a process is a long game of Whack-A-Mole. Waiting and reacting to maintenance problems can cause businesses to fail. Cost can occur through loss of productivity, staff waiting on expedited parts, quality failures producing rework, recall/warranty cost, or safety issues that can lead to injury or death. Proper planning and Scheduling maintenance are essential to any maintenance program. The Planning and Scheduling Position is often one of the least recognized positions but one of the most critical in managing cost and productivity.
Any successful Maintenance Manager or Plant Manager knows that effective Planning and Scheduling are critical to Maintenance. Planned work is 3 times more effective and can be half the cost of unplanned work.
Effective plans and schedules are essential to any chemical, oil and gas maintenance program, pulp, food, and beverage building.
Objective
My workshops will teach how to plan and schedule maintenance work effectively. Learn how to structure a maintenance organization to successfully allow planners/schedulers to avoid a reactive maintenance environment.
They will understand the correct process for work management from the initial work order to job execution. They will also understand the roles and responsibilities of planners/schedulers. They will learn how to rank and prioritize maintenance work and understand the Key Performance Indicators that they will need to track the planning and scheduling process. Most importantly, they will learn the steps to implement planning and scheduling at their site.
Methodology
The adaptive planning framework (APF) methodology, also known as adaptive planning management (APM), is an agile project management methodology designed with the inevitable change in mind.
That means that using adaptive project framework methods, teams must try to anticipate risks and prepare for the unexpected in their plan. They need to understand that critical components are constantly in flux and continuously re-evaluate results and decisions with these moving parts in mind.
This requires a lot of communication with all stakeholders and collaboration like other agile methodologies.
This instructor-led workshop will include building plans and schedulers through simulators and roleplaying.
Benefits
The delegates learn best practices in maintenance planning and scheduling used by leading manufacturing companies. They will know how to scope work to increase efficiency and minimize unscheduled downtime. They will also understand how to enhance the quality of the work. They will improve communications between operations and other organizations. They will also develop and track Key Performance Indicators within Maintenance and operations.
